While working as a cashier at Klein's Express 24-hour mini-mart and gas station, Todd often listened to music and doodled on a pad of paper during slow periods when no customers needed assistance.
Late one evening, while on duty, Rosemary urgently pleaded with him to call the police and help her escape from John Dee, whom she was currently driving to Mayhew out of fear for her life. Initially sceptical, thinking it might be a distasteful joke, Todd soon agreed to make the call after witnessing Rosemary's genuine terror.
When Dee, the escaped convict, attempted to forcibly remove Rosemary from the shop, Todd pulled a gun on him, demanding that they wait quietly for the police to arrive. Ignoring warnings, he tried to shoot Dee as he advanced on the unfortunate teller, only to be violently torn apart by the magic of Dee's Amulet of Protection.
