Madame Martin - Heartstopper: Season One

A schoolteacher at Harvey Greene Grammar School for Girls (HIGGS), Madame Martin specialised in teaching her pupils French. 

Among her Year 11 class were Tara Jones, Darcy Olsson and the recent transfer student, Elle Argent. 

Lady Esselyn - Fire & Blood

The name used by Essie during the brief reign of her son, Gaemon, Lady Esselyn was the Hand of the King, ruling his supporters alongside her paramour, Sylvenna Sand. 

After loyalists of King Aegon Targaryen, led by Boros Baratheon, recaptured King’s Landing and took back control of the city from the three pretenders, she was deposed and taken back to the Red Keep. 

There she would be promptly interrogated and executed for treason.

Essie - Fire & Blood

A young sex worker living in King's Landing, Essie met a Lysene oarsman and fell pregnant with his son. Giving birth to a boy, she named him Gaemon. Raising him in the House of Kisses with her lover Sylvenna Sand, she wished to give him a better life, teaching him the more progressive customs of her native Dorne. 

When Queen Rhaenyra abandoned King's Landing, Essie decided to make a move for power, declaring for all to hear that Gaemon was in fact the son of King Aegon. With no one there to verify or deny the claim, they moved to crown him as King. 

Unable to access the Red Keep, due to the rulership of King Trystane Fyre, they ruled from The House of Kisses, taking the Street of Sisters as their own district. Acting as his official Hand of the King, she took on the name Lady Esselyn. 

Despite being popular among the people of King's Landing, they were quickly deposed by Boros Baratheon and brought back to the Red Keep for interrogation. Under duress, she finally admitted that she had lied about Gaemon's heritage. 

Essie was among two dozen loyal courtiers to be executed by Baratheon. She was survived by Gaemon, who, due to his age and innocence, was kept alive as a political prisoner.

Sylvenna Sand - Fire & Blood

The illegitimate daughter of Dornish nobility, Sylvenna Sand was a sex worker living in King's Landing. While there, she fell in love with a young mother called Essie, helping her raise the boy the best they could, though due to their profession, they struggled. 

After Essie decided to announce Gaemon as the illegitimate son of Aegon Targaryen, she helped fashion him as a claimant to the Iron Throne, now that Queen Rhaenyra was gone, and the city was - almost - theirs for the taking. 

Forming a small council among their loyalists, Sylvanna fashioned edicts for Gaemon, many of which were progressive customs and laws that were already in practice in Dornish culture.

 

Their reign was brief. 

They were captured by Boros Baratheon, who marched them through the streets in chains. She defiantly held her lover's hand throughout. 

Charged with treason, she was hung from the battlements of the Red Keep, as a warning to those who wished to defy Aegon's rule.

Blood - The World of Ice & Fire

Known only as Blood, he and a ratcatcher, Cheese, were responsible for committing one of the Dance of Dragon's most heinous acts; the murder of Prince Jaehaerys. 

Hired by Mysaria, he and Cheese accessed the private residents of the Red Keep, taking Queen Helaena and her children hostage. 

Despite Helaena's plea to kill her youngest son Maelor, Blood decapitated Jaehaerys instead, taking his head as proof of completing their contract.  

Helaena never recovered from the ordeal. 

Cheese - The World of Ice & Fire

A King's Landing ratcatcher familiar with the secret passages and tunnels in and around the Red Keep, "Cheese" as history would know him as, was one of the two assassins responsible for murdering Prince Jaehaerys. 

Hired by Mysaria, acting on behalf of Prince Daemon Targaryen, he and Blood captured Queen Helaena and her children, forcing her to make an impossible choice - which of her sons to die. Ignoring her decision to kill her youngest child Maelor, they instead decapitated Jaehaerys. True to their word, they only killed one of her sons, leaving before they could be caught by the King's Guard. 

Mysaria - The World of Ice & Fire

Known as both "{Lady} Misery" and "the White Worm", Mysaria was the paramour and favourite of Prince Daemon Targaryen. 

A Lysene dancer and sex worker living in Fleabottom, she fed her lover information about the goings on among the citizens of King's Landing, acting as his Mistress of Whispers.  

After the death of Prince Lucerys at the hands of his cousin Prince Aemond at Storm's End, Mysaria, at the behest of Daemon, contracted the mercenaries Blood and Cheese to break into the Red Keep and murder one of King Aegon's children, calling it poetic justice - a son for a son. 

She would go down in history as one of the greatest Mistresses of Whispers of all time, rivalled only by the Bloodraven, Brynden Rivers.
