The grandson of legendary stage magician
Luigi Zatara, Giovanni "John” Zatara had magic in his very blood. His act was renowned for its spectacle and he toured widely throughout the 1980s. One of his earliest known performances was at Gotham City's Monarch Theater, during which a trick malfunctioned and accidentally started a fire. Miraculously, the fire was out before first responders arrived, leading to a rumour that Zatara possessed real magical abilities.
