The Principal - Dead Boy Detectives: Season One

In the realm beyond mortal existence, a complex administrative system exists to manage the souls of the departed. A key figure in this system is "The Principal", also known as "Your Finality". The second-in-command, she oversees the various departments involved in soul processing, wielding considerable power and authority, second only to Death of the Endless.

After the Night Nurse's constant failure to acquire the souls of Charles Rowland and Edwin Payne, The Principal and her subordinate travelled to London to finish the job once and for all. Informing the boys that escaping Death was impossible, she humoured Payne's request for asylum on Earth, asking if he had the prerequisite documents to make such a plea.

As the pair talk, The Principal's attention is drawn to the Agency's list of resolved cases. Cross-referencing the names on the list with the souls that the Lost & Found Department had successfully transitioned over the past few decades, she concluded that Charles and Edwin were performing selflessly and effectively, earning positive feedback and a good reputation.

Empowered by Death, The Principal decided to overlook their clerical errors and allowed the boys to stay on Earth, where they would continue to operate the Dead Boy Detective Agency. She would also appoint the Night Nurse as their liaison to ensure their work adhered to the After Life's rules and protocols. The Principal would also be committed to regular check-ins to confirm their continued usefulness, a condition the boys readily accepted.

The Notery - Dead Boy Detectives: Season One

Operating from Office 329, The Notery's main responsibility is to approve all planetary and interdimensional travels from the afterlife into the world of the living. She is known for being highly efficient and officious, taking great care to ensure that all the necessary paperwork is handled correctly.

Initially, she refused to grant permission for the Night Nurse to travel to Earth to hunt down Charles Rowland and Edwin Payne due to incorrect paperwork. However, she eventually relented and granted permission after the former found the required information.

Crastinus - Young Justice: Phantoms

A city-state of the kingdom of Atlantis, Crastinus was situated in the Arctic Ocean.

Before their defeat, Ocean Master and his Atlantean Purists planned to cause riots in the settlement's borders, since they considered it to be the home of the racial "impure."

In the 2020 annual conference of city-states, Lord Ronal represented the north, travelling to the capital of Poseidonis to discuss diplomatic affairs.

The Ninth Tride - Young Justice: Phantoms

While not an officially recognised state of Atlantis, the Ninth Tride was a district that sought independence from the rest of Poseidonis.

It was a notorious hub for the criminal element, where many of Ocean Master's former Atlantean Purists retired to after they were released from prison for their attack on Poseidonis in 2010.

Nanauve - Young Justice: Phantoms

Located in the Southern Ocean, Nanauve is one of the eight principalities that made up the kingdom of Atlantis. While it was a sovereign nation, it was also under the  jurisdiction of the Annax of Poseidonis. The monarch, King Nanaue Sha'ark, is the diplomatic representative of the region.

Due to increased shortages in krill, which is a critical part of their food chain, Nanauve expanded its hunting grounds for survival. This expansion led to the annexation of southern territory within Tritonis, causing a conflict with the Tritonisians.

The illegal occupasion and the fighting between Nanauve and Tritonis was one of the many topics discussed during the 2020 Atlantean Conference of Delegates, though the talks were derailed by both an attack from "Ocean Master" and the Lord of Chaos, Child.

The Leviathan - Young Justice: Phantoms

Dwelling in the Undersea, the Leviathan was an ancient creature long thought dead.

Disturbed from their slumber by Aquaman and his allies - as they searched for Arion's crown - they attacked the search party, seeing them as food.

Getting on their back, Kaldur forced them to smash a hole in the ocean ceiling above, allowing the four Atlanteans to escape while trapping them in the Undersea.

Karkinos - Young Justice: Phantoms

A giant crustacean of ancient myth, Karkinos lived deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean, in the Undersea.

When a group of Atlanteans travelled to the Undersea in search of Arion's crown, they attacked the heroes, sucking them into their mouth. La'gaan allowed himself to be swallowed, using a large chunk of rock to cut the creature's throat from the inside.

Writhing around in pain, they smashed a hole in the ground, revealing an even deeper pocket of the unexplored ocean. They also spat the Atlantean out, before retreating to tend to their wounds.

Artur Curry - Young Justice: Phantoms

The only son of Lord Orin and Annax Mera Nereus, Artur Curry is the crown prince of Atlantis and the next in line to the throne.

While he was not old enough to become a hero in his own right, he would often play games where he was the "Aquaboy", carrying on his father's - Aquaman - legacy as the protector of the Seven Seas.

Artur was aware of the tensions between his grandfather, King Ryus Nereus and his parents, who tried their best to keep him out of Atlantean politics.

"Aquaboy" - Young Justice: Phantoms

An alias used by Prince Artur Cutty while playing games with La'gaan, "Aqauaboy" was a hero and protector of the Seven Seas, following in the footsteps of his father, King Orin, aka Aquaman.

Kreetin - Young Justice: Phantoms

A resident of Armagedda, Kreetin, works as a barkeep in one of the local pubs in the infamous slum.

After hearing one of his patrons, "Graggin" attempt to give an impassioned speech to incite rebellion against the oppressive rule of Darkseid, he stepped in. Interrupted him mid-address, he cautioned that such actions would only lead to their demise or worse, reeducation.

Fearing repercussions, since over a dozen people had recently gone missing without a trace, Kreetin ordered "Graggin" to leave his establishment, shutting down any further mention of the subject.

Graggin - Young Justice: Phantoms

Once a vocal and passionate figure in the rising resistance movement against Darkseid's rule of Apokolips, Graggin was incapacitated by the Martian, Ma'alefa'ak, who stole his identity in hopes of trapping more "traitors."

With no further use for him, he was dragged from his home without a trace. He is presumed dead, or worse; detained in The Reeducation Centre.

"Graggin" - Young Justice: Phantoms

With his plans for M'arzz (Mars) in ruins and fleeing for his life, Ma'alefa'ak sought asylum on Apokolips. There he was tasked by Darkseid's youngest son Grayven with tracking down rebels, a test to prove whether he was still a competent and worthwhile asset to Darkseid's Empire.

Capturing one of the Hunger Dogs' most eloquent and well-respected speakers, Graggin, he took over his life and continued making speeches, with a far more sinister purpose; to ensnare anyone who dared to dream of a better world without the New God's tyranny.

In this new guise, he had captured fourteen rebels, giving homilies in the slums of Apokolips as bait. On August 26, he gave one such address in an Armaggedan bar, which sparked interest from one young woman, Jovita, and much fear and derision from the others, including the weary barkeep Kreetin.

Met with such outrage and hostility, "Graggin" was quickly ejected from the bar. However, as he was leaving, Jovita approached him, inquiring more into what he had said.

Taking her to a remote location to supposedly meet people who shared their beliefs, they were set upon by Parademons. Revealing his true form to the horrified woman, he callously dubbed her a traitor to Apokolips and mocked how susceptible she was to the notion of rebellion.

The Reeducation Centre - Young Justice: Phantoms

One of the most infamous and feared places on Apokolips, The Reeducation Centre was a detention facility specifically used for those inhabitants who sought to rebel against Darkseid's rule.

Many of the Hunger Dogs consider that internment there is a fate worse than death itself.

Jovita - Young Justice: Phantoms

A Hunger Dog from the Apokoliptian slum of Armagedda, Jovita was conditioned to obey Darkseid’s will without question, under threat of death or reeducation.

Her curiosity about freedom was sparked after hearing a speech by “Graggin” in a local bar, who advocated for rebellion against Darkseid. Intrigued, she approached him for more information.

“Graggin” led her to a secluded location, supposedly to meet other rebels. However, they were ambushed by Parademons, and “Graggin” revealed his true identity as Ma’alefa’ak, one of Darkseid’s agents. Despite Jovita’s lack of rebellious intent, Ma’alefa’ak deemed her susceptibility to his speech as treasonous. She was captured by the Parademons and taken to the Reeducation Center.

Jovita’s arrest marked the 16th rebel captured by Ma’alefa’ak, earning him a commendation and his own planet, Durla, as a reward for his loyalty to Darkseid.

Blackbriar Thorn - Young Justice

One of the world’s most powerful magicians, Blackbriar Thorn is a druid with the ability to manipulate and control plant life.

He is a constant enemy of Dr Fate (Kent Nelson) and the Homo magi, Giovanni Zatara.

In 2010, he was invited to join a small coalition of mystics. The Lord of Chaos, Klarion had him, Felix Faust, Wizard and Wotan perform a ritual that could split the world into two separate dimensions; one for adults and one for children.

While Klarion was in the children's dimension, Blackbriar Thorne remained behind to guard the Ambre Jeune Perdu, the jewel responsible for maintaining the spell.

In a final stand on Roanoke Island, the four mages battled the Justice League but failed to prevent Zatara and Dr Fate (Zatanna Zatara) from merging the two dimensions back into one.

He was quickly captured by Fate, who saw to it that they would not be able to wreak any more havoc.

"Hunger Dogs" - Young Justice: Phantoms

Cruelly referred to as "Hunger Dogs," this enslaved race of humanoids live in the slums of Apokolips, under the rulership of Darkseid. Largely uneducated, as it is believed education is a weapon of rebellion, they are forced to work in the fire pits, forging weapons for galactic conquest.

Despite their numerical superiority over the New Gods on Apokolips, with a ratio of 1000:1, the majority live in fear of Darkseid, avoiding any form of resistance due to the threat of death or reeducation.

However, there are some who dare to resist Darkseid's rule. To counter this, the Lord of Apokolips  employs individuals to suppress any rebellion. One such agent was the martian Ma'alefa'ak, who infiltrated the Hunger Dogs under the alias "Graggin". His mission was to identify potential rebels, which he accomplished by delivering revolutionary speeches in public places. As of August 2020, has succesfully captured 16 rebels, all of whom were dragged away to the Reeducation Centre.

Armagedda - Young Justice: Phantoms

Armagedda is one of the biggest and most densely populated settlements for The Hunger Dogs on Apokolips, filled with bars and taverns. It is regularly patrolled by Parademons and Darkseid's agents, who seek out any descension from the locals.
