Kai'ckul - The Sandman: Season One

One of the many identities and aspects assumed by the Dream Lord Morpheus over the years, Kai'ckul manifested to The First People and their queen, Nada, ten thousand years before the events of 2021. The latter fell in love with the enigmatic stranger, thanks in no small part to the intervention of Dream's sibling, Desire. This resulted in the pair breaking one of The Endless' few cardinal laws: that an Endless may never fall romantically for a mortal.

In response to all the pain and ruin their union wrought, Nada took her own life, much to Kai'ckul's great distress. However, his grief turned to rage after she refused to stay with him in the Dreaming as his queen and, in a callous, petty act, banished her to Hell. There she would remain, a prisoner of Lucifer Morningstar, until Kai'ckul could end her torment by showing her forgiveness for his slighted pride.

Yet, even after ten thousand years, he could not bring himself to do this, even after witnessing the severe mistreatment she endured at the hands of the fallen angel and their demonic forces.
