A huge fan of Mucous Membrane, Jake and his best friend Ryan James travelled to England to see the punk band play in Newcastle. However, before they could reach the city, they were abducted by The Order of Ancient Mysteries.
Taken to the O.A. M’s headquarters, Fawney Rig, he was killed by Stanley Dover Sr, aka The Star City Slasher. Extracting his blood and lungs, his body was used as part of an occult ritual meant to summon the Dragons of Revelation. Though this backfired when they brought forth a completely different, and extremely friendly demon from Hell.
Jake's death was avenged by The Dead Boy Detectives, bringing him the peace denied because of his unwilling involvement in the evocation. Death came for him soon after the Star City Slasher case was closed, welcoming him into the afterlife with open arms.
