The long stone staircase descended into the depths of Hell, the Spiral Staircase is a bannerless twisting path that spirits need to take before they even reach the realm of the damned. It goes on for what feels like an eternity. 

When Maxime was sent to Hell after her attempt to murder Jenny Green resulted in a butcher's spike through the head, she lingered on the stairs, crying and confused as to where she was. There she would remain tearing up the love letters she wrote to Jenny into small fragments and tossing them into the darkness below.
