The Spirit of Malcolm DuPont - Doom Patrol: Season Three

Malcolm DuPont's spirit was trapped in a Bootstrap Paradox after he died in 1949, which prevented him from moving on to the Afterlife. He remained stuck in The Tunnel of Souls for 72 years until Rita Farr arrived and unintentionally created this time anomaly.

Reunited with his friend and lover, he noticed that she had no memory of their past relationship or time with The Sisterhood of Dada. Familiar with temporal amnesia caused by time travel, he held his tongue, realising that his words could fracture the timeline.

Cornered by the Night Nurse, Malcolm helped Farr and her friends escape The Tunnel of Souls. Although he could not land a hit on the demon, his actions gave them enough time to flee to Charon's Ferry. He was easily overpowered and punished for his insubordination.

Malcolm's last words to Rita were "Never let them see you sweat." While they did not hold significance now, these words were a powerful declaration of empowerment that, in her future - his past -  helped her find the confidence to control her meta-abilities and be true to herself.

As he was a stranger to her, Farr didn't understand the impact of Malcolm's sacrifice until after she stole Madame Rouge's time machine,  travelling back to 1917 and the beginning of the Paradox. Believing the Sisterhood of Dada was evil, thanks to the misconstrued intel from the time-displaced Laura De Mille, she went back to stop them. This action sparked the closed temporal loop and led to the rise of a more militant Sisterhood - with Farr as a teammate, - the upcoming Eternal Flagellation, and the tragedy that brought Malcolm's spirit to the Tunnel. The mask he was wearing at the time of his death fused to his face, forever altering his appearance to look like "Bendy" mid-transformation.
