What Matters Most - Transcripts

Part One

Harper Row: And we're still on for dinner tonight?

Stephanie Brown: *over phone* As if I'd miss it! I'll swing by and pick you up, Harper.

Harper Row: Only if I get to pick the music.

Stephanie Brown: *over phone* But I'm the one driving!

Harper Row: So? Operating a car doesn't suddenly improve your tastes in music.

Stephanie Brown: *over phone* Rude.

Alysia Yeoh: (OS) Help! Somebody help!

Harper Row: Sorry Steph, gotta go.
------------------------------------------------------
Adam Rothman: No one is coming to help you.

Harper Row: Oh yeah? *takes out Kim Simone* ... Stay behind me. You're gonna be alright.

Adam Rothman: Who do you think you are, some kind of Bat?

Harper Row: Right now, I'm just a girl with a supercharged taser.

Link Brooks: A what?

Harper Row: *Harper electrocutes Rothman, who falls to the ground unconscious. Brooks looks from Adam to the tazer and flees, tripping over Rothman in his haste to get away* Yeah, you better run! Let's get you guys out of here.
------------------------------------------------------

Stephanie Brown: You hopped off the phone pretty quick earlier. What happened?

Harper Row: Just Gotham being Gotham.

Stephanie Brown: You okay?

Harper Row: I don't know, Stephanie. I just keep thinking.

Stephanie Brown: Oh, God! Thinking? The horror!

Harper Row: Shut up! *laughing*

Stephanie Brown: Thinking about what?

Harper Row: I've always hated bullies, you know. My brother used to get bullied a lot. I was the only one who would stand up for him. And then I saw there were even bigger bullies on the streets, hurting people in my neighbourhood. Batman seemed to be the only one standing up to them. So I started helping him in any way I could. But no matter how many times I put on the mask, the bullies always come back. People are scared out there. I just want to help them not be scared.

Stephanie Brown: You do help them, Harper. You've helped a lot of people.

Harper Row: I know. But sometimes I feel like there's still something more I can do.

Stephanie Brown: Well say the word and I'll be there to help.

Harper Row: Thanks, Steph. But I think this is something I have to do myself.

Stephanie Brown: At least let me send you a playlist for some inspiration.

Harper Row: Haha. Not on your life.

Part Two

Cullen Row: Still messing around with that?

Narration: Cullen Row. Harper's younger brother.

Harper Row: It helps me think. Thanks for making me coffee.

Cullen Row: Um, these are both for me

Harper Row: Hilarious. Gimme.

Cullen Row: You ready to talk? Or do you want to keep tinkering?

Harper Row: I've been feeling so restless lately. Like there's more I want to do to help people but I don't know what. I know Bluebird does a lot of good. But there are still people who are afraid. I want to help them. I'm not a politician or even someone like Bruce, who can donate lots of money to drive change. I'm just … me. And when I think about everything that needs to be done, it's overwhelming.

Cullen Row: Well, of course, it's overwhelming. It sounds like you're trying to solve every problem in Gotham by yourself. But you don't have to fix everything all at once.

Harper Row: Then what am I supposed to do?

Cullen Row: Change can start small. You showed me that. Remember when I used to be scared all the time? You showed me how to protect myself. And maybe those lessons didn't solve every problem in the world, but they sure helped me. You want people to be less afraid? Start by showing them how. Meanwhile, we can start working with people in the community to find better solutions to bigger problems. We're not alone anymore Harper. We don't have to do it all by ourselves.

Harper Row: When did you get so smart?

Cullen Row: I've always been brilliant and underappreciated.

Harper Row: Ain't that the truth. You're right, Cullen. I got so used to it being us against the world that I forgot to look at the bigger picture. Thanks for talking it through with me.

Cullen Row: Anytime. So, what are you going to do?

Harper Row: First I'm going to clean this up. Then … I think it's time I call in some backup.
===============================
Harper Row: Hey, Steph. You know that thing we were talking about the other day? I think I've got something and I want your help …
-----------------------------------------------------
Harper Row: Hi, everyone. Thanks for signing up for our free self defence course. My name's Harper. This is Steph and Cass. We all know Gotham can be a scary place to live sometimes. We hope this class will help you keep yourself safe out there. You aren't alone here, I promise. Now let's get started.
