Mother and Son - Transcripts

*Damian goes about his school day. He knows he is being watched, but can't do anything about it. Not yet at least*

Damian Wayne: (IM) I've been trained by the best of the best. I know when I'm being watched. It's difficult maintaining a civilian identity. Too many unexplained absences and people begin asking questions. I've promised Father not to draw too much attention to myself... and I'm going to keep that promise. Still, it wouldn't do to waste any time. One does not keep Talia al Ghul waiting.

Robin: Mother.

Talia al Ghul: Your skills need some work, Damian. I've been waiting almost seven hours.

Narration: Talia al Ghul. Daughter of Ra's al Ghul. She's a powerful ally -- and a deadly enemy.

Robin: I knew you were here. I had other responsibilities.

Talia al Ghul: It appears your priorities need some adjusting, too.

Robin: What do you want?

Talia al Ghul: To test how your abilities are developing under your Father's training. Nothing more.

Robin: I know what your tests are like, Mother. This is something else.

Talia al Ghul: Your Father has imparted his detective skills, at least. That's good. 

Robin: If you have a question, ask it. I didn't come here to be judged. 

Talia al Ghul: ... Are you happy?

Robin: What? 

Talia al Ghul: This life-- the life you've chosen with your Father and all the others-- --does it make you happy? 

Robin: *looks down at his feet* For most of my life, all I knew was the League of Assassins. I had a purpose. A mission. And I thought that was happiness. Then I came here. I found a new way to live, a family unlike anything I knew I could have. *sighs* Things here aren't perfect. Sometimes we fight. Sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes Father forgets he doesn't have to do things alone anymore. But...yes. The answer to your question is yes. I am happy here.

Talia al Ghul: I have made many difficult decisions in my life. Some I have been sure of. Some I have regretted. Letting you go was the hardest decision I have ever made. But if it has allowed you to find something good, then I am glad.

Robin: Will I see you again?

Talia al Ghul: Keep your eyes open and your skills sharp, and I'm sure you will.

Robin: Until next time, mother.
