The Three Sisters refer to the trio of bridges - New Trigate, Madison, and 22nd - in Gotham City, designed by stepbrothers Nicholas Anders and Bradley Gates. These bridges were part of a project by Alan Wayne, Theodore Cobblepot, Edward Elliot, and Cameron Kane to improve access to Gotham's surrounding islands.
Each bridge is unofficially named after a city's founding family, except for the Kanes and Arkhams, honoring the industrialists who transformed Gotham from a small settlement into a metropolis.
Bradley Gates tragically died during the construction of the latest bridge amid disputes over its destination. Suspicion fell on Kane, leading to Anders accusing him of sabotage. However, no evidence was found, and Anders resorted to murdering Cameron and his son Robert.
After Anders's imprisonment and the dismissal of his accusations as paranoia, the latest bridge was redirected to Kane County. The 22nd bridge was renamed the Robert Kane Memorial Bridge in honor of the deceased industrialists, who were respected members of the Court of Owls.
