Nicholas Anders, a celebrated architect and business partner to his step-brother Bradley Gates, greatly contributed to the modernization of Gotham. Commissioned by luminaries like Alan Wayne, Anders and Gates designed 'The Three Sisters,' a trio of bridges dedicated to the illustrious Waynes, Cobblepots, and Elliots, the projects' financial backers.
Tasked with constructing a fourth bridge, linking East End Gotham to Wayne-owned territory, an 'accident' at the construction site resulted in Bradley's death, leading to the project's redirection to Kane County. Suspecting foul play by Cameron Kane, Anders descended into despair, fruitlessly seeking evidence of Kane's alleged misdeeds.
Driven to his breaking point, Nicholas murdered Cameron and his son, Robert, in a bid for retribution. Subsequently apprehended and charged for their murders, Anders was declared criminally insane by the courts. His claims of foul play and sabotage surrounding Bradley's death were dismissed as extreme paranoia, warranting treatment by the Arkham Family.
